Rating Guide

How the Resistance Scale Works

Every record in the database is graded on the standard four-class industrial resistance scale, based on ambient-temperature immersion testing.

A

Excellent

Minimal swelling, softening, or embrittlement. Suitable for continuous service and long-term immersion.

B

Good

Acceptable for most fluid handling uses with routine inspection and defined service intervals.

C

Fair

Marginal resistance. Not recommended for continuous exposure or critical sealing applications.

D

Severe Effect

Rapid chemical attack. Avoid this material and select a more resistant polymer or alloy.

All ratings are subject to the engineering disclaimer provided at the bottom of every page. Verify operating temperatures, concentration limits, and pressure conditions before deployment.

Workflow

How Engineers Use This Database

A three-step material verification workflow used by process, plant, and maintenance engineers.

1

Search the Chemical

Use the search bar or material hub to locate the exact chemical, concentration, or process media in your system.

2

Review the Rating

Check the A–D resistance class for your candidate material, along with the degradation behavior and engineering analysis on each report.

3

Verify Operating Limits

Confirm temperature, concentration, pressure, and exposure duration against your actual service conditions, then print the spec sheet for your records.

Specify Materials With Confidence

Every report includes a printable spec sheet with the resistance verdict, safety guidelines, and related comparisons — ready for procurement files and engineering documentation.
